Golden Visa


The Joint Ministerial Decision of the Ministries of Development and Investment, Civil Protection and Foreign Affairs regulated the matters for the issuance of a national entry visa and for the issuance of a five-year residence permit in Greece to anyone who makes an intangible investment.

More specifically, the third country national will have to invest the following to obtain a Golden Visa:

1. Capital contribution of at least EUR 400.000 on a company, which is registered or owns facilities in Greece (closed investment companies and real estate investments companies are excluded), in order to obtain shares on a share capital increase or bonds on a bond issue

2. Capital contribution of at least EUR 400.000 on real estate investment company (S.A.), whose sole purpose is to invest on real estate in Greece on a share capital increase.

3. Capital contribution of at least EUR 400.000 on venture capital companies for obtaining shares or on mutual funds of venture capital for obtaining shares, provided that their sole purpose is to invest in real estate in Greece.

4. Purchase of bonds owned by the Greek government of at least 400.000 EUR and remaining duration at the time of purchase at least of three years via a Greek crediting institution which is also their depositary.

5. Time deposit of at least 400.000 EUR on a Greek crediting institution of at least one year duration with a fixed renewal order.

6. Purchase of bonds owned by the Greek government of at least 800.000 EUR, which are introduced for negotiation or are being negotiated by a Greek regulated market.

7. Purchase of shares of at least 400.000 EUR on a mutual fund, whose only purpose is to invest in company bonds or bonds owned by the Greek Government which are introduced for negotiation or are being negotiated by a Greek regulated market.

8. Purchase of shares of at least 400.000 EUR on alternative investments funds, which have been established in Greece, or in EU countries and their sole purpose is to invest in Greece.

The minimum price for a real estate purpose is 250.000 EUR.

A third-country national wishing to obtain a national long-stay visa must present himself in person to the pertinent Greek Diplomatic or Consular Authority within whose jurisdiction he legally resides and:

• to submit the general supporting documents and the special defined by the joint ministerial decision of par. 1 of article 136 of Law 4245/2014.

• to be interviewed in order to determine the purpose of entering and staying in Greece,

• pay the required fees as defined in the current national legislation.
